Can Invisalign effectively straighten teeth for Knoxville patients?

Straighten Teeth

A common solution for patients who are interested in repairing their smile with orthodontics is that of Invisalign. Traditional metal bracket and wire braces are beginning to fall by the wayside as patients realize there are less invasive, more affordable, and more discreet methods of obtaining a more attractive smile. Dr. Pablo Foncea and his team encourage patients to straighten their teeth with Invisalign when they are seeking a method of repair that is not as noticeable as conventional orthodontics and allows them to address mild to moderate malocclusion with comfortable plastic trays.

The trays used in Invisalign are made of high quality, medical-grade acrylics that are clear and practically indistinguishable when worn over the teeth. At Sequoyah Dental Arts, we will first evaluate patients to determine if they are appropriate candidates for Invisalign before starting the process. Patients who have more severe cases of malocclusion may still be better suited for traditional braces and can be referred out to the appropriate specialist. However, many patients are able to enjoy Invisalign services with the dentist they already know and trust.

Dr. Pablo Foncea of Sequoyah Dental Arts in Knoxville shows his patients how Invisalign works. A series of trays are ordered for patients after an initial set of impressions are completed. This series of trays will include many aligners for the dental arch in a progression. Patients will wear the very first series in the tray day and night for two weeks. At this point in time, the teeth will be adjusted to the new alignment and patients will be ready for the next tray in the series. As patients use the aligner trays, they will notice the gradual changes in their smile over time until they have achieved a much more attractive smile.

Invisalign can be used to effectively straighten the teeth. However, it should be noted that this also depends on patient compliance. We only recommend Invisalign for patients who understand the importance of wearing the aligner trays to see optimum results. Without following strict compliance, patients may need to wear their trays longer and therefore extend out the time needed for their treatment, or they may need to have another series of trays made in order to repair what occurred when they were not compliant with treatment.
